The accused have been identified as:

Edgar Lawson, 33, a businessman residing in Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara.

Keiran Barrett, 50, a vendor from East La Penitence, Georgetown.

The indictable charge was read to both men during separate appearances before the Chief Magistrate. As is standard for capital offenses, they were not required to enter a plea. Magistrate McGusty denied bail for both defendants, ordering them remanded to prison.

The matter is scheduled to return to court on July 29, 2026, for further proceedings.

The murder charge relates to the death of Levi Williams, whose life was taken between December 23 and December 25, 2025, on Charlotte Street, Georgetown. Following an extensive police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, law enforcement officials brought the charges forward this week.
