A road accident on Saturday evening resulted in the death of Antonio Ignatius, a 51-year-old construction worker from Lot 77 Triumph Sideline Dam. The incident occurred around 7:15 PM along Agriculture Road.

Reports indicate that Ignatius was struck by motor car number PAH 5305, driven by a 29-year-old man from the same area, who was traveling north at a high speed. According to the driver, Ignatius suddenly attempted to cross the road from east to west and walked directly into the path of the oncoming vehicle, leading to a violent collision.
Witnesses described how the impact flung Ignatius into the air before he fell onto the roadway with visible injuries. After the initial collision, the motor car also struck another vehicle, motor car number PYY 4685, which was stationary on the western parapet at the time.
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT number 23) from the Melanie Fire Station arrived promptly but sadly pronounced Ignatius dead at the scene. His body has since been transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
