In a Social Media Post on the BIG SMITH News WATCH Page He Wrote a Message of Motivation : Today marks a significant milestone for Leroy Smith as he celebrates one year since moving into his own home. The journey to homeownership began with construction in 2020, following a lengthy wait after the foundation was set and settled.

Smith’s path to his new home was not without its obstacles. After facing difficulties with the administrators of Richmondville Estate, where he was caretaking a property for a friend, he found himself in court and ultimately evicted as the court deemed his occupancy unlawful. This experience, while challenging, fueled his determination to press forward with his own construction.
Since moving into his home, Smith has embraced a renewed sense of purpose. “I wake up every day grateful for this blessing and driven to work hard,” he shared. With the responsibilities of homeownership and a mortgage, Smith is committed to grinding and making the most of his situation.
He expressed immense gratitude for the help he received along the way, acknowledging those who supported him in his journey. “I pay that help forward,” he said, emphasizing the importance of community and support.
Throughout the construction process, Smith faced numerous challenges, including substandard work and financial strains. “I learned so much about construction that I was previously ignorant of,” he admitted. Despite being robbed and having to redo subpar work, he persevered, turning setbacks into valuable lessons.
Smith’s story serves as a beacon of hope for young people. “I want you to take this as motivation,” he urged. “If you’re trying, don’t stop. Surround yourself with people who uplift you—if you have to drop toxic friends, do it. You can’t be broke and wasting time together.”
Reflecting on his journey, Smith noted that five years ago, his house lot was valued at GYD $175,000. Today, it is worth significantly more, thanks to his hard work and dedication. “It took me three years to save for that low-income house lot. That’s how tough things were.”
“Please be encouraged. It’s never about where you start; it’s about where you end up,” Smith concluded, inspiring others to chase their dreams and overcome adversity. His story is a testament to resilience and the power of determination.
