Former Georgetown Mayor Patricia Chase-Green, who has shifted allegiance from the Peoples National Congress (PNC) and the A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) to the Peoples Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C), is urging voters to reconsider their support for the APNU in the upcoming General and Regional Elections on September 1.

Speaking at a gathering in Tucville, South Georgetown, Chase-Green likened her experience in politics to a local proverb, emphasizing her long tenure of over 40 years. She criticized the APNU’s ability to manage Georgetown, stating, “They cannot even manage a city of Georgetown… but then they want to manage the whole of Guyana.”
Since crossing over to the PPP/C during the 2023 Local Government Elections, Chase-Green has served as a PPP/C councillor on the Georgetown Mayor and Town Council. The PPP/C notably increased its support in Georgetown, winning five out of 15 constituencies, nearly doubling its votes from 6,813 in 2018 to 12,256 in 2023.
Chase-Green highlighted the PPP/C’s commitment to development, stating that many are recognizing the progress made under its governance. She encouraged voters to observe community developments and compare the leadership of the PPP/C with other political contenders.
Addressing past grievances, she remarked, “If you sit down and study the amount of things that we were robbed of… it’s a shame.” She urged residents to be mindful of their voting choices, asserting, “If it is not broken, don’t fix it. We’re on the path for the past five years of progress and development; let us continue that path.”
In closing, Chase-Green rallied support for the PPP/C, saying, “Get on the PPP train, get on the train to progress.”
