Authorities have taken five individuals into custody following a violent armed robbery at Plantation Good Hope early Monday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:45 a.m. on June 8, 2026, targeting a 49-year-old self-employed resident and his family.
According to preliminary reports, a group of seven masked men, armed with firearms, cutlasses, and knives, descended upon the family’s residence. The suspects breached the front door after firing what are believed to be gunshots.
Once inside, the intruders ransacked the home and physically assaulted the homeowner, his wife, and one of their daughters. The suspects escaped with:
A quantity of jewelry.
Two cellular phones.
An undisclosed amount of cash.
Personal documents.
The victim managed to escape the scene to alert the police. Responding officers transported the family to the Enmore Regional Hospital for medical treatment.
An intense follow-up investigation led police to a location in Phase Two, Good Hope, on Tuesday, June 9. During a search of the premises, investigators recovered two .32 pistols hidden inside a blue cookie tin. The weapons have been lodged for forensic examination as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Police have significantly advanced their investigation, moving from two initial arrests to a total of five suspects currently in custody:
A 21-year-old labourer and a 33-year-old taxi driver—both from the Good Hope Squatting Area—were the first to be detained.
Three additional suspects have since been taken into custody.
Authorities indicate that investigations are ongoing to locate the remaining individuals involved in the attack.
