In an address, President Ali congratulated Justice Younge on her appointment, describing it as both a personal milestone and a strengthening of the judiciary.

“Her ascension marks not only a personal milestone of distinction but also a strengthening of our judiciary. It is a moment that affirms the enduring vitality of our legal institutions. Her appointment attests to the confidence reposed in her intellect, integrity and judicial temperament,” the President said.

He noted that her role as an appellate judge demands more than legal acumen, calling for wisdom, restraint, and a profound sense of responsibility.

“Your words will carry weight beyond the cases before you. They will shape the contours of the law and influence the lives of countless citizens,” President Ali told Justice Younge.

Justice Younge was first appointed a Judge of the High Court in 2017. She joins Justices Jo-Ann Barlow, Kim Kyte-Thomas, Nareshwar Harmanan, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, Rafiq Khan, and Acting Chief Justice Navindra Singh — the six other justices elevated to the Court of Appeal in 2025 based on the JSC’s recommendations.
