Longstanding Grade Six teacher and founder of Revon’s Academy, Ms. Revon Boyle, is urging students to pay close attention to topics that appeared in both the first and second Mock Exams, describing them as strong indicators of what is likely to feature in the upcoming papers.

In Science, Ms. Boyle highlighted food webs, living things, vertebrates and invertebrates, the plant kingdom and germination as recurring and heavily tested topics. In Mathematics, she pointed to patterns and sequences, profit and loss, measurements, conversions, time, shapes, angles and symmetry as areas deserving particular attention.

She also cautioned students about a common pitfall — calculation errors. “Sometimes they do the calculation, they convert everything and forget that last bit where the answer has to be expressed in a certain unit,” she said, urging students to check their working carefully.

Ms. Boyle advised students to read questions carefully, underline or circle key words and strike a balance between being too wordy and too vague in their answers.

“Keep it short but ensure that you have certain words that are related to the question you are expected to bring out,” she said.

Students at Revon’s Academy shared their own preparation strategies. Sofia Boyle said she has been working through past papers and mock exams while rising early to maximise study time. “When I go in the exam I have no regrets, and when I am finished writing the exams, I can say both my parents and I have done our best,” she said.

Grade Five student Cadeehia Williams, who is writing the exam ahead of schedule, said she has been working through past papers dating back to 2000 and is leaning on her faith to carry her through. “I am trusting God to remind me of everything I have studied and allow me to study much more to do exceedingly and abundantly well,” she said.

Students will sit English Papers 1 and 2 followed by Science Papers 1 and 2 on Wednesday, before tackling Mathematics and Social Studies Papers 1 and 2 on Thursday.
