JOB TITLE: SYSTEMS SUPPORT OFFICER
PURPOSE: To provide first-line support and maintenance services for all computer and network hardware and software owned by the agency.
KEY OUTPUTS:
- Timely processing and printing of reports from databases.
- Effective computer software support to end-users.
- Effective hardware support to end-users.
RANGE OF ACTIVITIES:
- Monitoring printing queues and scheduling report printing.
- Performing Local Area Network maintenance.
- Installing hardware and software systems as required.
- Ensuring the presence of anti-virus software on all PCs.
- Conducting day-to-day system support procedures.
- Visiting line agencies to correct remote access problems.
- Performing data entry and verification as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Four (4) subjects including English Language and Information Technology at GCE ‘O’ Levels or CXC (General grades I – III or Basic – grade I) PLUS two (2) years of experience providing computer hardware and software support services.
OR
- Four (4) subjects including English Language and Mathematics at GCE ‘O’ Levels or CXC (General – grades I – III or Basic – grade I) PLUS a Certificate in Computer Hardware and Software Support AND (2) years experience providing computer hardware and software support services.
- Certificate in Industrial and Social Studies (CLC) PLUS Certificate in Computer Hardware and Software Support AND three (3) years of experience providing computer hardware and software support services.
DECISION MAKING, PROBLEM SOLVING AND IMPACT ON RESULTS:
- Ability to follow installation instructions for successful software installations.
- Basic understanding of internal computer components for troubleshooting hardware faults.
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking for troubleshooting network connectivity faults.
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT:
- Responsible for reporting and logging faults in all equipment owned by the agency.
COMMUNICATIONS:
- Regular communication with end-users on system-related issues.
- Daily communication with the Systems Administrator.
Working conditions: normal office conditions. The incumbent will be required to work routinely with computers.

JOB TITLE: VEHICLE DRIVER
PURPOSE: To provide transportation support services to the Supreme Court of Judicature to various locations around the country to conduct the business of the Court.
KEY OUTPUTS:
- Courteous and defensive driving.
- Well-driven and cared-for vehicle.
- Punctuality.
RANGE OF ACTIVITIES:
- Driving one or more motor vehicles carefully and courteously.
- Transporting officers, materials, and equipment safely and timely.
- Maintaining and servicing vehicles as necessary for optimal working conditions.
- Recording details of journeys undertaken in a log book for verification and record-keeping.
- Keeping an inventory of tools and accessories.
- Ensuring the assigned vehicle is in proper working condition and maintained cleanly.
- Complying with all existing laws and regulations for driving on Guyana’s roadways.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Complete secondary school education.
- Holder of a valid driver’s license for all classes of vehicles.
- Three (3) years of experience as a driver.
- Clear police record for the past five (5) years.

- Works under instructions with little scope for decision-making.
- The impact on results is considerable, affecting goodwill, satisfaction, or vehicle maintenance costs.
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT:
- Full responsibility for the care and control of the vehicle, its components, tools, and occupants’ safety.
COMMUNICATIONS:
- Frequent contact with supervisors and all levels of staff within and outside the organization.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The job holder faces normal risks related to driving and may encounter difficult routes.
JOB TITLE: OFFICE ASSISTANT
PURPOSE: To provide messenger service and basic office support.
KEY OUTPUTS:
- Efficient collection and delivery of internal and outgoing mail.
RANGE OF ACTIVITIES:
- Delivering outgoing mail to government and public offices.
- Collecting and delivering mail bags from the post office.
- Purchasing stamps and uplifting postal packages.
- Clearing files from officers’ “out-dip” and placing routed files in “in-dip.”
- Preparing water pitchers and jugs with water and broken ice.
- Acting as a receptionist.
- Photocopying documents.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Basic literacy.
- Trustworthy and able to carry out simple instructions.
- Must have a bicycle for duties.
DECISION MAKING, PROBLEM SOLVING AND IMPACT ON RESULTS:
- The job is routine with minimal decision-making.
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT:
- Accountable for mail and documents while in possession.
- Responsible for the care and maintenance of the duplicating machine or photocopier.
COMMUNICATIONS:
- Frequent contact with supervisors and staff at middle and lower levels within and outside the organization.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal working conditions, with daily bicycle riding in hot or rainy conditions.
JOB TITLE: CLERK II (GENERAL)
PURPOSE: To perform clerical support duties following defined rules and procedures.
KEY OUTPUTS:
- Simple memoranda, letters, and reminders.
- Personnel statistics.
RANGE OF ACTIVITIES:
- Processing documentation according to defined rules and procedures.
- Preparing simple correspondence (memoranda, letters, reminders, and minutes).
- Answering telephone inquiries from the public and advising on application status.
- Compiling straightforward statistics.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Four (4) subjects, including English Language, are at the GCE “O” Level, or CXC (General, Grades I to III, or Basic, Grade I). OR
- Any of the following:
- Certificate in Secretarial Science.
- Diploma in secretarial science.
- Certificate in Attainment in Secretarial Science.
- Ordinary Certificate in Commerce.
- Ordinary Diploma in Commerce.
- Certificate in Industrial and Social Studies (C.L.C.).
DECISION MAKING, PROBLEM SOLVING AND IMPACT ON RESULTS:
- Work is routine; rules and administrative practices will guide the job holder.
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT:
- Custodian of one or two pieces of records, statistics, and an office calculator.
COMMUNICATIONS:

Working conditions: normal office conditions.
JOB TITLE: JANITOR
PURPOSE: To ensure the compound is environmentally friendly.
RANGE OF ACTIVITIES:
- General cleaning of the compound and surrounding drains.
- Grooming, watering, and maintaining plants.
- Assisting in the disposal of garbage.
- Pressure washing buildings and concrete structures.
- Performing basic carpentry and masonry duties.
- Any other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
- A sound primary education.
WORKING conditions: normal working conditions; may be required to ride a bicycle almost daily in hot or rainy conditions and required to lift and move around objects of moderate weight.
