As of early July 2026, the Government of Guyana’s $100,000 National Cash Grant—a flagship initiative announced in the 2026 National Budget—continues to be rolled out across the country.

Progress: The distribution exercise is well underway, with reports indicating that over 430,000 eligible Guyanese adults (18 years and older) have already received their payments via direct bank transfer or cheque.
Regional Rollout: The Ministry of Finance has successfully completed distribution in Region 9 (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo). Efforts are currently intensifying in Region 1 (Barima-Waini) and Region 8 (Potaro-Siparuni), with completion expected shortly. Additionally, teams in Region 7 (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) have finalized payouts in riverain areas and are currently wrapping up operations in Bartica.
Special Support: To ensure inclusivity, teams are actively visiting institutions such as the Palms and the Blind Institute. Furthermore, home-based registration is being conducted for “shut-ins,” including the elderly and incapacitated, using existing pension and National Insurance Scheme (NIS) records.
It is important to distinguish this initiative from other government support programs:
$100,000 National Cash Grant: A one-time grant for every Guyanese adult (18+), funded by the 2026 Budget.
‘Because We Care’ Grant: This is a separate, recurring annual program for parents of school-aged children. For 2026, this grant was increased to $60,000 per child, complemented by an additional $20,000 annual transportation grant per child.
Digital-First Approach: The government has prioritized a “digital-first” strategy to minimize crowds. Eligible citizens are encouraged to use the online portal to register and provide bank account details for direct deposit.
If you or someone you know has not yet registered, you are encouraged to check the official Ministry of Finance portals or visit designated help desks that have been established nationwide to assist those who may have trouble with the online process.
