According to the Ministry, an anonymous report was received via its 914 hotline several days ago, raising concerns about the woman, who was believed to be of unsound mind. The report indicated that she had previously been living at Laing Avenue, Georgetown, but had been put out of the residence.

Childcare and Protection Officers moved swiftly following the report, establishing contact with a relative who had offered the woman temporary shelter. The relative was advised to bring her to the Childcare and Protection Agency as soon as possible so that urgent assistance could be provided. However, before this could happen, the woman left the residence with her children without the relative’s knowledge.

Authorities, working alongside partners, continued efforts to locate the family. The Guyana Police Force subsequently found the woman and her children at Puruni Landing. She is currently receiving assistance and will undergo a psychiatric evaluation at a medical facility to ensure she receives the necessary care.

The CPA confirmed it will continue to work closely with the mother and her children, providing ongoing support and safeguarding their wellbeing. The Ministry reiterated its commitment to swift intervention, coordinated action, and compassionate support for vulnerable individuals and families across the country.
