An 18-year-old construction worker from Richmond Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), has been charged with the rape of a child under the age of 16.
Joshua Pollard appeared before Magistrate Tariq Mohamed at the Charity Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where it was alleged that he committed the offence against a 13-year-old girl on April 22, 2026, at Richmond, Essequibo Coast. The charge was laid under Section 10(3) of the Sexual Offences Act, Chapter 8:03.
Pollard was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge. While the prosecution objected to bail, the court granted it in the sum of $300,000, with the condition that Pollard have no contact with the complainant or her family pending the outcome of the matter.
The case was adjourned to May 13.
