The incident occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. on June 25, 2026, along the Princeton Access Road. According to the initial police report, King was operating his motorcycle, CL 5607, when he attempted to evade a patrol. Police claim that during the pursuit, the teenager lost control of the vehicle and collided with a utility pole. King was transported to the No. 75 Regional Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

However, the police narrative faces significant pushback from local residents. Multiple witnesses have alleged that the police vehicle made physical contact with King’s motorcycle during the chase, forcing him to lose control. These allegations have raised serious questions regarding the conduct of the responding officers.

The OPR has launched a comprehensive investigation to reconcile these conflicting accounts and determine the facts. The probe is mandated to examine all aspects of the pursuit to ascertain whether there was any criminal or disciplinary misconduct on the part of the officers involved.

In an official statement, the Guyana Police Force acknowledged the gravity of the situation. They have assured the grieving family and the general public that, should the investigation uncover any wrongdoing, appropriate disciplinary or criminal actions will be taken against those responsible.
