Ganesh Mahipaul Raises Concerns Over Political Crowds

  • News

In a published social media post Ganesh Mahipaul highlights a critical concern regarding the authenticity of political support during rallies, particularly pointing out tactics employed by the PPP/C. He asserts that large crowds do not necessarily reflect genuine backing and accuses the incumbent party of manipulating attendance through state resources.

Mahipaul claims that the PPP/C uses taxpayer money, government vehicles, and public servants to create an illusion of popularity. He cites Andrew Tyndall, noting that his presence at rallies suggests coercion rather than volunteerism.

He emphasizes that many in the crowd are not there out of passion but rather due to financial incentives or threats. Mahipaul warns Guyanese against being deceived by these tactics, describing the phenomenon as “payroll politics.”
